This week’s Color Inspiration Series takes us inside a stunning Tampa mansion where every room tells a story through color. Erin and the Polson Painting team used an advanced technique called color drenching—painting the walls, trim, and even ceilings in the same tone—to create depth, luxury, and architectural cohesion throughout the home.
This project showcases a bold yet balanced neutral palette featuring some of Sherwin-Williams’ most sophisticated shades: Ironclad, Cheviot, Timeless Taupe, Mushroom, Amazing Gray, Sanctuary, Vessel, Restoration, and Light French Gray.
From the moment you step into the Ironclad-speakeasy, you know this home isn’t afraid of bold choices. The deep neutral gray transforms the room into a cozy, moody hideaway—perfect for entertaining.
The foyer, living areas, and hallways contrast beautifully with Cheviot, a refined off-white that grounds the space and complements the home’s natural light and flooring. Fun fact: Cheviot requires a special-order base from Sherwin-Williams, but its creamy undertone and balance make it more than worth it.
In the dining room, Timeless Taupe wraps the walls while Cheviot graces the trim and ceiling—pulling warmth from the wood floors and creating a seamless, elegant flow.
The office introduces Mushroom, a sophisticated warm neutral that adds softness and focus. The game room, meanwhile, is drenched in Amazing Gray, a modern and versatile tone that pairs perfectly with the flooring.
Moving into the master suite, we find a tranquil combination: Sanctuary on the walls, Cheviot on the trim, and Vessel on the ceiling. The effect continues in the master bath and closets for a cohesive, spa-like experience.
Upstairs, Light French Gray and Restoration add depth to the bedrooms, bathrooms, and kids’ game room—proof that color drenching isn’t only for bold tones, but can also highlight neutral layers with quiet drama.
This Tampa mansion is a masterclass in how to make neutrals feel bold. Through color drenching, Polson Painting transformed large spaces into intimate experiences—each hue chosen to harmonize with flooring, lighting, and architecture.
If you’re ready to make a statement with color (even in neutrals), our team can help you design a palette that’s anything but ordinary.
